Erik ten Hag Keeps Coaching Role
Manchester United will be keeping Erik ten Hag on as head coach, despite the club’s lacklustre performance under his stewardship during the 2023/24 English Premier League (EPL) season.
The English club slumped to eighth place on the EPL log; despite rumours flying that the 54-year-old Dutch tactician would be leaving Old Trafford, reports from English media on Tuesday, 11 June, claimed that United’s management decreed that he should stay on following a post-season performance review.
The Red Devils’ recent season is their poorest showing in over three decades, and other football managers have been wary of taking up the job, including the likes of former Chelsea coaches Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino; even England head coach, Gareth Southgate, has not been keen to accept any offers.
As the news broke, hordes of fans openly shared their feelings regarding the call across social media, with most bewildered at the decision of co-owners Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS Group Limited.
One X/Twitter user posted: “INEOS have lost the plot.”
